2020 has been a tough year on most people. The Coronavirus pandemic and the consequent lockdowns shut down and crippled business, as well as cut down the earning power of many people. In some cases, it wiped out incomes entirely. As such, as the year rolls to an end, more people are looking for the best value they can squeeze out of their modest budgets. Someone got in touch to say he has a budget of ₦25,000 and wants a TECNO phone that has a fingerprint scanner. That is a tough order, but here at MobilityArena, we exist to be of service to you, so we got to work. Are there any? Sure. In addition, we added a list of other smartphones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner. That way, if you do not like the available options from TECNO, you can explore elsewhere. Just bear in mind that there are not too many options available out there. The cost of mobile phones climbed during the year, and many models that used to cost under 25000 naira are now priced above 30,000. But let’s get to it. Below is a list of the TECNO phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner.
TECNO phones under ₦25,000 with fingerprint scanner
TECNO POP 2F: The first on our list is the POP 2F. It is a mid-2019 model, and so runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition). It has a 5.5-inch display, a 5 MP selfie camera, 8 MP rear camera, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, and a 2400 mAh battery. Of course, it has a fingerprint scanner at the back. It will cost you ₦24,000 only, narrowly missing the ₦25,000 mark. TECNO WX4 Pro. The 2GB RAM +16GB ROM WX$ Pro is next on our list of TECNO phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner. It has a futuristic techie name that we quite like. What does it get you? You get a small-ish 5 inches display, Quad-core 1.25GHz processor, and 2GB RAM. Internal storage is 16GB with option of microSD card expansion. The operating system is Android 7.1 Nougat. That is old! But that is because the WX4 Pro is a 2018 release. Don’t scream. Like I said earlier, it is tough to find 2020 smartphones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner. Both the main camera at the back and the front-facing camera are 8 megapixels shooters. How much does this package cost? ₦22,200. It has a 3G variant with only 1GB RAM. If you can find it in the market, it costs even less than that. TECNO POP 2 POWER: This is another 2018 model. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) though, which is more up-to-date than what we saw with the WX4 Pro. It has a 5.5-inch display, 16GB storage, and a robust 4000 mAh battery. With that battery, you should be getting good battery life. The front camera has an 8 megapixels single lens, while at the back is a 5 megapixels single rear with LED flash. Cost is ₦22,500. And that is it: those are the TECNO phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner that we could fine. There may be one or two others that we missed.
Other Smartphones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner
You just might be interested in what is available from other brands. Unfortunately, there are only two other brands officially on sale in the country that have any phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner – itel Mobile and Olla. itel phones are fairly easy to find to buy, but Olla phones are camera-shy and you might have to put in some work to track one down. Here is the supplementary list. itel A33: Released in mid 2019, this itel model runs Android 8.1 Oreo, has a 5-inch display, 2 MP selfie camera, 5 MP rear camera, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, and a 2200 mAh battery. It is available for ₦21,000. itel S13 – From late 2018 is this Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) model. It has a 5.5-inch display, 3G Internet, 13 MP selfie camera, 5 MP + 5 MP rear dual camera, and a 2400 mAh battery. Getting one will set you back by ₦22,000 only. Olla M1 Lite: For ₦25,000 on the dot, you get a 5.7-inch waterdrop display, runs Android 9 Pie operating system, has an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP selfie camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage memory (ROM), and a 3000mAh battery.
Honorary Mentions
Our honorary mention on our list of mobile phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner is a model that costs just slightly over our budget. itel A56: If you have a little over ₦25,000 to spend, the A56 is available for N26,500. It is a 2020 model and so up-to-date in many ways. It runs Android 9 Pie (Go Edition), has a large 6-inch LCD, a 5MP selfie camera, 8MP rear dual camera, 1GB RAM, 16GB ROM, and a 4000mAh battery. But there is a big comma: this is a 3G phone. If you want to be able to use 4G LTE Internet, this is not the smartphone for you. There is a 4G variant that costs just under ₦35,000. Totally out of range. Tough; right? 2020 is a tough year indeed. As you can see, there are no phones listed here that cost under 20000 naira. We couldn’t find any. Still, you now have a list of mobile phones under 25000 naira with fingerprint scanner to pick from. Happy shopping. 2021 Update: As at June 2021, there are no TECNO phones under N25,000 with fingerprint readers. The cheapest TECNO phone that has fingerprint scanner is the POP 2F, which now costs N26,000 and above. Even itel, the champion of the entry-level market, is barely able to meet up to this. You can still get itel P15 for N25,000 in some places. But if you want a fingerprint reader on your smartphone in 2021, be prepared to spend more than that amount.
